I think the main difference between ski and snowboard is that snowboarding is youth driven while ski has a bit of an elitist vibe (freeskiing is closer to snowboarding).So here is a simple example on how Safilo can sell the same goggles under two different brands: Carrera Chopper SPH that retails at $129 and the Gucci goggles retailing for $185.
At this price you can get some pretty sick goggles from VZ, Electric or Oakley..but goes to show you that Brand has a price and particularly in the States, it is more important than product performances.
